Low Crime and Falling

“Haverhill is a thriving and developing town. However, despite the expansion and population increase, Haverhill has one of the lowest crime rates of the towns in the area, and is going down. Over the last year, the volume of crimes reported to Haverhill Police actually reduced by 11.5% compared to the previous year.

The Western Policing Area of the county comprises six Sectors and Haverhill was the only Sector to show a reduction in recorded crime, and a sizeable reduction at that. The detection rate for recorded crime has also improved.

My staff work closely with St Edmundsbury Borough Council to reduce crime and ensure that a high quality of life is enjoyed by the people of Haverhill. The town boasts an excellent CCTV system which has provided reassurance in the town and has assisted in detecting many crimes.

Suffolk is one of the best performing police forces in the country with the fifth lowest overall crime rate and the lowest burglary rate in England. Our aim now is to make Suffolk the safest county in the country.”

Quote from Inspector Mike Bacon, Sector Commander, Haverhill.
