Historic
Bury St Edmunds
|
Haverhill's
location is not only ideal for business - it also offers easy access to
other towns and villages which have a multitude of attractions and amenities,
as well as some of the most picturesque and historic parts of the Eastern
region.
Take
the ancient town of Bury
St Edmunds, for instance. The town's most famous feature is the
Abbey Gardens, which surround the ruins of one of the most powerful mediaeval
monasteries in Europe. Abbey Gardens are well-known for their stunning
floral displays and beautifully maintained lawns.
Then
there is Newmarket
- "the headquarters of racing" set admidst beautiful rolling
countryside with attractions including the National Horseracing Museum
and the National Stud. You don't have to be a fan of horseracing to appreciate
the splendours of this attractive market town and its unique surrounding
area.

Melford Hall,
Long Melford |
|
Rather
smaller, Clare
with Its range of specialist shops is an antique hunter's paradise and
attracts visitors and holidaymakers from all over the UK and indeed the
world. Long Melford,
a few miles further east, is another haven of antique shops and equally
popular with visitors. Its wide main street is a delightful environment
for pedestrians, while Kentwell Hall, a moated Tudor mansion in a parkland
setting, was named 'Heritage Building of the Year' in the Good Britain
Guide 2001. Lavenham,
nearby, with it's own individual charm and fascinating history, is regarded
as being the finest surviving example of an English mediaeval town. Its
streets contain many fine historic buildings as well as a variety of interesting
gift shops, art galleries, tea rooms and restaurants.
