A Dynamic Future | ![]() |
The town is set to expand further and the Borough Council is working to steer its future to ensure that the balance is right. Whatever the growth, there will need to be improvements in the form and shape of industry, housing, retail and infrastructure. Haverhill has an impressive track record in manufacturing industry and recent new investment illustrates that the town has an excellent business culture. This, in turn, has grabbed the attention of regional agencies such as the East of England Development Agency and the East of England Investment Agency. By developing positive new partnerships with these bodies, Haverhill will capture some of the action and flourish all the more.
While working alongside local industry and the Borough and Town Councils, Haverhill Enterprise 2000 has done much to raise the town's profile and has lobbied assiduously on a whole range of issues that touch upon Haverhill's well-being. This is particularly commendable as the work is done voluntarily, and by leading industrialists who at the same time are having to contend with changing markets, globalisation and fierce competition. We are, indeed, fortunate to have such a dedicated group in our midst. A vision has emerged from those who have the town's best interests at heart - i.e. the town's own 'stakeholders'. Nick
