D. Gurteen & Sons Ltd was established in Haverhill in 1784 and for 150 years was the main employer in the town employing over 2000 people. The business started with weaving cloth, and grew into the manufacturing of men’s outer clothing. It is now in the hands of the seventh generation of the Gurteen family.

Gurteen clothes can be found in most major independent retailers throughout the country, and also under their own labels in many stores, including Austin Reed, John Lewis, House of Fraser, Boden, Moss Bros and Harrods.
